Low-Cost Ways to Get Your Home Ready to Sell
Getting your home ready to sell doesn't have to be a financial burden. In fact, in most cases, you can put your best foot forward with very little to no cost. Here are a few things you can do to get a head start:

Declutter and Organize:

  • Clear countertops, shelves, and closets to create a spacious and clean appearance.
  • Store away or pack personal items and family photos to help buyers visualize themselves in the space.

Deep Clean:

  • Wash windows, scrub floors, and clean carpets.
  • Pay attention to less obvious areas like baseboards, light fixtures, and grout.

Repaint in Neutral Colors:

  • Refresh walls with neutral tones like beige, gray, or off-white.
  • Touch up any scuffs or marks on walls, baseboards, and doors.

Improve Curb Appeal:

  • Mow the lawn, trim hedges, and add fresh mulch.
  • Place potted plants or flowers near the entrance for a welcoming touch.

Enhance Lighting:

  • Replace dim or outdated bulbs with brighter, energy-efficient ones.
  • Clean or update light fixtures for a polished look.

Fix Minor Repairs:

  • Tighten loose handles & outlet covers, fix squeaky doors, and patch small holes in walls.
  • Ensure faucets aren’t leaking and all appliances function properly.

Stage Furniture Smartly:

  • Rearrange furniture to highlight the room’s functionality and flow.
  • Remove excess furniture and minimalize, to make rooms feel larger.

Update Hardware:

  • Replace old cabinet knobs, drawer pulls, and doorknobs for a fresh, updated look.
  • Opt for affordable, stylish options that match the home’s aesthetic.

Freshen Up with Scents:

  • Use subtle air fresheners or bake cookies before showings.
  • Avoid overpowering fragrances that could irritate visitors or give the impression that you're trying to cover up an unpleasant odor.

Add Small Decorative Touches:

  • Place fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit, or neutral art pieces around the home.
  • Use crisp, clean linens and towels in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Highlight Natural Light:

  • Open curtains and blinds to let in sunlight.
  • Remove heavy drapes or replace them with sheer options.

Clean and Stage Outdoor Spaces:

  • Sweep patios, clean decks, and arrange outdoor furniture neatly.
  • Add string lights or lanterns for a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
